BUILDING A PARENTING APP

Phil and Bruce saw a problem, and they quickly got to work creating a new app to solve that problem. Parents needed a place to connect, to find custom answers to their parenting questions and not millions of google search results. They created Parent Playbook a free app for parents, caregivers, and professionals to basically create the village you need to parent confidently right in your pocket.

PEOPLE ARE CRAVING CONNECTION

Phil wasn’t completely sold that there was a real problem until he witnessed something amazing happen in one of their focus groups. A mom chose to share an experience and become emotional. Almost immediately the other moms in the group came to offer support. Some in the form of a hand hold, others in a hug, and others crying along with her, simply letting her know that she wan’t alone.

That room was powerful and it was in that moment that Phil knew he needed to replicate this feeling and this connection for so many more parents. Out of everything he learned from talking to hundreds and hundreds of parents is that everyone is craving connection.

They crave substantive, meaningful, true, authentic, vulnerable connection. They want a place where they can come together and just feel connection, true connection. And so parent playbook that’s at the heart of everything we’re doing is, is building a platform that lets people feel connected.

BECOMING A CONFIDENT PARENT

The biggest thing to becoming a confident parent is to be aware of your thoughts. Bruce shares a model in the podcast that looks like this:

Circumstance> Thoughts > Feelings> Actions> Results.

When we can recognize that our thoughts about any circumstance are what drives our actions then we can begin to take more ownership over our parenting and become more confident.

INVESTING IN YOURSELVES AS PARENTS

One big thing that Phil and Bruce learned in talking with moms is that most parents will say this being a parent is really, really hard.

So you need time to recharge. We need to take time to pause, be present, to breathe, to be intentional about becoming the architects of our life and our reality.
