91. Behind The Break: Reactive Hypoglycemia and Rediscovering My Podcast Passion

LISTEN ON ITUNESSPOTIFY, OR STITCHER

Hey there, Fearless Fam! It’s been a while, but I’m finally back, and I’ve got a ton of new podcast episodes lined up for you. Before we dive into the exciting content, I wanted to take a moment to explain why I took a little break from my podcast. So today, I’m going to share with you three key reasons behind my hiatus, and I believe there are valuable lessons in each of them.

Let’s dive in!

Health Struggles

The biggest reason for my break was health-related. I had been facing some health issues that left me feeling incredibly weak. It was frustrating because one moment I’d be fine, and the next, I’d need to lay down for hours just to regain my energy. It took a toll on my mental health too, as I couldn’t keep up with my goals and responsibilities, especially as a mom of four. I’ve been on a journey to address these health challenges, and it’s been quite the ride.

During this time, I shared my story on social media and even said a prayer for guidance. Miraculously, I met a naturopath at a baby shower, and it felt like an answer to my prayer. Naturopaths dig deep into your health, considering various factors, unlike traditional doctors. Through a detailed conversation and blood work, I discovered I had adrenal fatigue due to intense workouts, high caffeine intake, and intermittent fasting. It was a wake-up call to slow down and de-stress.

Fashion Adventure

My daughter and I embarked on a fashion influencer journey during my podcast break. We both shared a passion for fashion and wanted to try our hand at it. However, after two weeks of trying, we realized it wasn’t the right path for us. It’s okay to explore new things and learn that they’re not your true calling. We didn’t see it as a failure but as a valuable experience.

Enjoying Summer

Lastly, summer is always a busy time for my family with four kids, family reunions, and vacations. I wanted to be fully present during these precious moments with my loved ones, which is why I took a pause on the podcast.

What did I learn?

Now, what did I learn from all of this? Well, my health struggles led me to discover I have reactive hypoglycemia, a condition characterized by unstable blood sugar levels. It can have a profound impact on your life and even your mental health. I’ve been working on managing it by reducing stress, opting for healthier foods, and monitoring my blood sugar levels with the help of a continuous glucose monitor.

Reactive hypoglycemia can be unpredictable, causing symptoms like shakiness, anxiety, and confusion. It’s essential to be mindful of factors that affect blood sugar, such as stress, exercise routines, diet, and even simple things like artificial lights at night. Hydration and focusing on low glycemic index foods can also make a significant difference in stabilizing blood sugar levels.

My hiatus from the podcast wasn’t just about taking a break. It was about self-discovery, learning from new experiences, and prioritizing health and family. I’m excited to be back and can’t wait to share more wisdom, encouragement, and tips with you this fall. Thanks for sticking with me through it all. Stay tuned for what’s coming next!
