93. Breaking the Burnout Cycle with Dr. Taniqua Miller

I have a very special guest with me, Dr. Taniqua Miller. We’re about to dive into a conversation that’s incredibly important and timely—finding freedom from burnout. Dr. Taniqua Miller is not only a highly accomplished OBGYN and menopause health expert, but she’s also a relatable, down-to-earth soul who’s passionate about empowering women in their midlife journeys.

In this two-part episode, we’ll explore her journey and insights on overcoming burnout, as well as the power of listening to your body. Dr. Miller’s unique perspective, having been trained in psychology at Yale and earned her medical degree from Harvard, makes her story and advice even more compelling. So, let’s jump right in!

Reimagining Life After Burnout

Taniqua shared her inspiring journey of leaving her traditional medical role in search of new dreams. After overcoming burnout, she found herself reimagining her roles as a mom, friend, and professional. She transitioned to consulting and developed her coaching practice, “Burnout to Boundless,” where she helps black professional women regain control, rebuild their agency, and pivot to create the lives they desire.

Rediscovering Purpose

One of the most significant realizations for Taniqua was her yearning to serve as a healer in the healthcare and medical industry in a unique way. This led to her vision for telemedicine, which she’s passionate about and eager to explore further.

The Scary, Joyful, and Terrifying Journey

Embracing change can be a rollercoaster of emotions. Taniqua admitted that her new journey feels both light and joyful but also scary and terrifying. Despite the challenges, she’s learning to take small steps, stay aware of her feelings, and move forward.

Changing Lives by Embracing Change

Taniqua’s transformation isn’t just about herself—it’s also affecting those around her. She’s noticed a positive change in her children, family, and friends. Her journey has inspired them to become more self-aware and intentional in how they show up in the world.

Breaking Free from Expectations

We shared stories of people who feel trapped by their initial career choices or decisions. Taniqua emphasized that it’s okay to pivot and make changes if you’re not happy where you are. She quoted, “You don’t need permission to pivot.” Don’t be afraid to explore new paths, even while keeping your current job as a safety net.

Take Baby Steps and Explore

We discussed the importance of taking baby steps when trying something new. Taniqua and I agreed that experimenting and exploring can help you avoid future regrets. Trying something and realizing it’s not your passion is a valuable experience that can guide you towards what truly fulfills you.

Leaving a Legacy of Adventure

Our conversation ended with a powerful message—live a life full of adventure, try new things, and make the most of your time. You don’t want to look back and regret the things you didn’t do.

Thank you for tuning in, and remember, it’s never too late to chase your dreams and embrace change. Until next time!
