Description
: In this episode the Fear-Less Girl Podcast is going spiritual. I’m actually a very deeply spiritual person, I just don’t share it as publicly, as much as I should or could. I felt very strongly that I should share this message. So today, we’re going to talk about three ways to get closer to God.

Let’s dive in.

IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN:

  • 03:09 Why You Should Be Close to God
  • 07:22 PWR acronym: Pray, Write, Read
  • 08:03 P is for Pray
  • 14:04 W is for Write
  • 23:09 R is for READ

WHY YOU SHOULD BE CLOSE TO GOD

Kelli believes that when you develop a close relationship to God, you will have more joy. In turning to him, obeying him, binding ourselves to him, that trial and sorrow are turned to joy and who doesn’t want more joy that joy comes from knowing God and knowing that we are loving. And that we are not alone and that we can go to our Heavenly Father and that he is there for us.

PRAY, WRITE, READ

Kelli is a word nerd and shares her acronym for staying close to God. PWR (Power) The P stands for Prayer. The W stands for Write. The R stands for Read.

PRAYER IS COMMUNICATION WITH GOD

If you want to stay close to someone, you would find a way to speak to them. Prayer is our way of communicating with God. I think words are important and that is one reason why I think prayer is so crucial because it is our words. I have loved learning that I can communicate with God in my own way, that I don’t have to follow a specific script or way of doing it. I can talk with him in a way that feels natural to me.

Kelli shares her acronym for staying close to God. PWR (Power) The P stands for Prayer. The W stands for Write. The R stands for Read.

W IS FOR WRITE

Writing is a powerful practice and just like prayer, there are many ways to do it. You can use a pen and paper to journal, keep a google doc, use the notes app on your phone, etc. Any way that you do it is okay, writing things out is incredibly powerful. You can keep a journal of daily events, or even something simple like a daily gratitude journal.

R IS FOR READ

I believe that we can get near to God by reading the scriptures more than by any other book. But I know that it can be hard to make the time.

I decided to be a Guinea pig for you all and try this acronym out myself.

So I did the power acronym each day for a week, instead of checking Instagram, first thing in the morning, I would say a prayer. I would write in my gratitude journal, which is literally just a Google doc where I put five bullet points of things I was grateful for. And I would listen to. To a talk or the scriptures on audio.

I do so much better when I, so read, can also be listened. It can be listening to audio, which is how I get any reading in nowadays. I did all of this while still in bed, and it only took me 10 minutes each day, but I feel like it helped a lot. In fact, there was one day where I got like four answers to prayer.
